1. MY Challenge ("the Competition") is organised by the KDU Education Group ("the Organiser") with endorsement by the Ministry of Education ("MOE"), Malaysia.
  2. All participants MUST read and abide by the Terms and Conditions of MY Challenge 2013.
  3. There are individual/paired Challenges and group Challenges for the 2013 competition:
    (a) individual/paired challenges: Solo Singing, Photography, Culinary Arts
    (b) group challenges: Modern Dancing, Band, Short Film
  4. No registration fees will be imposed. However, approval shall be obtained from the respective school principals to join MY Challenge 2013.
  5. Each contingent must be supervised by a teacher advisor and led by a team captain who must be a student from the same school.
  6. Participants are required to obtain parental/guardian's consent and complete the relevant indemnity declaration form as deemed necessary by the Organiser upon submission of application forms, failing which, the Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry to the Competition. By signing the consent form, the parents and participants agree to the Terms and Conditions contained herein.
  7. Every participant is required to declare his/her health and physical fitness to the Organiser prior to entry to the competitions. Failure to truthfully declare one's physical fitness may result in immediate disqualification.
  8. Insurance for the finalists for stage events on the day of the Grand Final will be covered by the Organiser. However, participants shall ensure that they are fully covered by insurance including, but not restricted to, all risks of their property, public liability and comprehensive protection against any loss or damage caused by any circumstance whatsoever whether by reason of fire, water, theft, accident or any other cause.
  9. Incomplete application forms shall not be entertained.
  10. Participants will be disqualified if found to be involved in disciplinary misconduct during the Competition, such as smoking, alcohol/drug consumption, bullying, extortion, fighting, and any other forms of behavior which may jeopardise or disrupt the Competition.
  11. The Organiser and Sponsors/Partners will not be liable for any accident which may occur prior to, during or after the Competition period.
  12. Participants may also be disqualified if found to be disrespectful which includes, but is not limited to, acts or conduct such as using profane or inappropriate language or gestures, and baiting or taunting an opponent which is intended to demean others on the basis of race, religion, gender, etc.
  13. Application forms can only be downloaded from the MY Challenge website at www.kdu.edu.my/mychallenge. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or post to KDU UC at SS22/41, Damansara Jaya, 47400 Petaling Jaya, no later than 24 May 2013.
  14. The Organiser will not entertain nor be in any way responsible for any dispute arising from incomplete or inaccurate entry details in the application form.
  15. Successful applications will be displayed in the School List on the website/facebook and participants will not receive any other notification.
  16. Upon confirmation of application, each participant agrees that the decisions by the judges will be final and will not be subject for review.
  17. Participants who do not begin performing within 30 seconds after the competition begins will be disqualified.
  18. Each participant acknowledges the necessity for the judges to make prompt and fair decisions during the Competition, and thus expressly waives any legal, equitable, administrative or procedural review of such decisions.
  19. The right to participate is not transferable without explicit approval of the Organiser. If the participant fails to show up for the Preliminaries/Semi-finals/Finals, no replacement shall be allowed.
  20. Confirmation of withdrawal can only be accepted when submitted in writing no later than one week before the competitions, and approved by the respective school principal. No point will be awarded to the school under such circumstances.
  21. The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify a participant if he or she has provided false personal data.
  22. The Organiser can disqualify a participant from the Competition if the participant:
    (a) violates the competition rules before or during the Competition;
    (b) disturbs the proceedings of the Competition or jeopardises his/her own safety or the safety of others; and
    (c) refuses to comply with the instructions of the Organiser.
  23. Participants are strictly prohibited from harassing the judges or production crew.
  24. Judges' score sheets and/or comments will not be revealed to the participants.
  25. There will be no compensation paid if the Competition is cancelled for reasons of force majeure, i.e. due to occurrence of incidents that are beyond the control of the Organiser and which render it impossible or unsafe to hold the Competition.
  26. Meals, instructor's fees, costume and preparation costs, accommodation and/or transportation to Competition venues are participants' responsibility and expense.
  27. The participants shall have no claim against the Organiser should any government authority restricts or refuses a student's participation in the Competition.
  28. Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organiser to ensure the participants' safety, participants enter the Competition at their own risk and the Organiser will not be responsible or held liable for any injury or death howsoever arising from training for or during participation in the Competition. Participants are strongly encouraged to go for medical examination and/or consult their medical practitioner prior to the submission of application forms and before the actual Competition days.
  29. The Organiser, sponsors/partners, production crew, administrative staff, employees or agents of MY Challenge 2013 shall not be liable for any property loss in the course of the Competition.
  30. The Organiser also reserves the right to reject, on Competition days, any entry that it deems not relevant to the showmanship spirit of the Competition and/or an entry whose performance it deems too dangerous.
  31. By entering the Competition, the participant agrees that the information provided in the Application Forms can be used by the Organiser for any legitimate purpose of advertising, promotion, marketing, and compilation of results, and that photos, motion pictures, recordings, video materials and interviews made in relation with his/her participation in the Competition can be broadcast and published on TV, radio, internet, all print media, programme book, photo copies (video footage, VCD/DVD, etc) without remuneration and/or prior notice to the participant.
  32. The Organiser reserves the right to modify or substitute any of these Terms & Conditions of the Competition from time to time.
  33. If there is ambiguity in any of the provisions, the Organiser shall be the authority to interpret and in doing so, the Organiser will take into account the interests of all the affected parties. The decision of the Organiser shall be final.
  34. Any update on the Competition Rules will be notified on the MY Challenge facebook page. 



  1. All participants must abide by the Costume Rules set by the Challenge Committee.
  2. For girls, spaghetti straps, tube tops and any other top that reveals the midriff are not encouraged. Skirts and shorts worn must not be too short, reaching at least the knees.
  3. Slippers/sandals are not allowed to be worn on stage. Participants must have suitable footwear during the stage performance. Winners receiving awards/medals must also wear proper footwear. The Challenge Committee reserves the right to stop anyone wearing slippers/sandals from receiving the trophies/medals on stage.
  4. The Judges and/or Challenge Committee reserves the right to stop a performance, and/or disqualify a participant due to a wardrobe malfunction, e.g. garment not being securely fastened/attached, straps break, pants split, etc, that may occur either accidentally or intentionally. Every participant is required to take the necessary steps to avoid inappropriate exposure prior to the stage performance.
  5. No risqué, sheer, sexually provocative or lingerie-looking/inspired costume or attire is allowed. Appropriate undergarments must be worn during the performance.



  1. The eligible age-range for participants is 12-19 years old.
  2. All participants must be legal Malaysian residents representing their own schools, and must not hold any current recording or talent representation contract.
  3. Students of international schools with student permit/study visa may also participate.
  4. The competitions this year are ONLY open to all students of secondary schools in the Klang Valley. Applicants for all the six Challenges undertake to abide by the Competition Rules, the Terms and Conditions, and the decision(s) of the Jury.
  5. Any non-adherence with the Competition Rules will result in immediate disqualification.
